Kelley Bean Company Regional Manager John Bartsch says dry bean fields were looking stressed before much needed rains came. “If you would have asked me a week ago, I would have said we needed rains badly, but with this weekend’s rain, we had perfect timing.” According to Bartsch, most dry bean
fields are in perfect condition, except in parts of Pembina County where there was excess moisture. “If you have standing water in fields for 24-48 hours, those plants will be dead. In Pembina County, the ditches are so full, the fields are just sitting there like a bathtub.”
