Up to $1.4 billion of Surplus Commodities to be Purchased

The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service will purchase up to $1.4 billion of surplus commodities impacted by trade retaliation for distribution to food banks, schools and other outlets serving low-income individuals. Through the Food Purchase and Distribution Program, the AMS Commodity Procurement Program will buy affected products in four phases beginning October 1.
