Legislation Introduced to Address Supply Chain Bottlenecks

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar and South Dakota Senator John Thune are working together on a bill to address the supply chain disruptions. Klobuchar said ocean carriers are treating Midwest exporters unfairly. “What Thune and I are doing is to even the playing field by making it harder for ocean carriers to unreasonably refuse to load goods ready to export at port and also get some clarity to the fees they’re imposing, which can be unfair.” A recent Commerce Committee hearing brought key players in the supply chain to the table. “Sometimes these hearings can be bogus and boring where they’re throwing popcorn at people. I’m really glad we did this one to call attention to the fact that Democrats and Republicans from ag producing states are not satisfied with what is happening at the ports.”
