According to the latest NDSU Crop and Pest Report, over the past two weeks, insect pests including foliage-feeding caterpillars, grasshoppers, bean leaf beetles and spider mites have all been observed in dry edible beans and soybeans. Most fields that were reported were not at concerning thresholds. Entomologists recommend scouting for these pests until beans are past the R6 stage. Some late planted fields are affected with pod feeding. According to the report, most foliage feeding caterpillars are about mature worms and should drop to the soil for pupation after getting done feeding.
