More than a dozen farm bill listening sessions have been held across Minnesota. Senator Tina Smith addressed coverage gaps during one session. “Not all risk management and safety-net programs are working well for smaller operations and specialty crop farmers. A tweak here or there would really help.” Senator Cory Booker says the hearing focused on commodities that get subsidies under Title I. “We have a crisis for specialty crop growers that won’t be addressed until the committee creates a comparable safety net for specialty crops.”
