Carrington Research Center Releases Dry Bean Trial Results

The Carrington Research Extension Center released its 2022 dryland and irrigated dry bean trial data, planted June 2. Both trials consisted of 31 entries among six market classes (pinto, black, navy, great northern, pink and small red) and included seven NDSU experimental lines. The dryland trial was harvested Sept. 8 and the irrigated trial on Sept. 21. Across all entries, the dryland trial averaged 2075 lbs. an acre, with a range of 1480 to 2785 lbs. an acre. Among 10 pinto varieties in the trial, greatest yield was obtained with Lariat, Monterrey and ND-Falcon, ranging from 2225 to 2530 lbs. an acre. Among five black varieties, greatest yield was obtained with Ace, Eclipse and ND-Twilight, ranging from 2065 to 2300 lbs. an acre. Among five navy varieties, greatest yield was obtained with Armada, ND-Polar and T9905, ranging from 1945 to 2170 lbs. an acre. The full results of the trial can be fund here.
