MN Ag Department Issues 2021 Dicamba Investigation Findings

As the Minnesota Department of Agriculture investigates cases of possible off-target dicamba movement from 2021, MDA is finding dicamba label violations. There are multiple incidents related to incomplete application records, not measuring wind speed at boom height and applying dicamba when there are sensitive plants, crops or residual areas downwind. For the 2021 growing season, there were 304 dicamba complaints and 120 of those complaints asked for a formal investigation. Those complaints were combined into 84 cases. At this time, 10 cases are closed. MDA does not expect to get through the review and enforcement of all of the investigations before the upcoming growing season. Applicators are encouraged to pay close attention to updated dicamba application guidelines for 2022.
