A survey conducted by Farmer Mac and the American Bankers Association identified inflation as the biggest concern among agricultural lenders. Over 500 ag lenders were surveyed for this report. A return to higher inflation will be a first for many bankers, who have had no experience with it during their careers. A quarterly report from Farmer Mac indicates inflation is likely to be a bad thing for farmers, but the impact may be less severe than the lenders fear. Inflation levels are not expected to reach the extremes seen during the farm crisis days of the 1980s.
