According to USDA’s 2021 crop production report, North Dakota’s dry edible bean production totaled 6.4 million hundredweight. That’s down 50 percent from a year ago. Yields were estimated at 1,030 pounds per acre, down 600 pounds from a year earlier. Total harvested acres was 620,000 acres, down 21 percent from 2020. For Minnesota, dry bean production totaled nearly 4.6 million hundredweight. That’s down from 5.5 million hundredweight in 2020. The statewide yield average was 1,960 pounds, down from 2,100 pounds per acre one year ago. The area harvested for dry beans was 234,000 acres. That’s 29,000 acres from 2020.
