Crop Progress Report – May 24, 2021

According to USDA’s Crop Progress Report, dry bean planting in North Dakota was 46% complete, well ahead of 20% last year and near 42% average. Emerged was 4%, equal to average. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 37% very short, 29% short, 33% adequate, and 1% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 47% very short, 30% short, 22% adequate, and 1% surplus.

The Minnesota dry bean crop was 82% planted, 12 days ahead of last year and normal. Dry beans were 28% emerged, 5 days ahead of last year and one week ahead of the average. Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 5% very short, 27% short, 66% adequate and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 8% very short, 28% short, 62% adequate and 2% surplus. Dry conditions continue to be reported.

Dry bean planting in Idaho is at 75%, Montana is at 46%, Wyoming is at 30%, Colorado is at 12% and Nebraska 11% complete.
