According to USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, planting of dry beans in the state of Washington was only 14 percent complete as of Sunday, far behind last year when 72 percent were planted, and the five-year average pace of 65 percent. Oregon farmers had 26 percent of their dry beans planted, down from 49 percent a year ago. In Wyoming, 8 percent of the edibles are planted, slightly ahead of last year, but behind the five-year average of 12 percent. Planting in Colorado is five percent complete, slighly behind the average pace for this date. Minnesota farmers had 9 percent of the dry beans planted as of Sunday, compared to 42 percent last year and the 22 percent average. Dry bean planting in North Dakota is 6 percent complete versus 24 percent one year ago and the the five-year average of 10 percent.
