In North Dakota, 73 percent of the dry beans are rated good-to-excellent. Ninety-five percent of the beans are blooming. That's up from 94 percent last year and 89 percent for the five-year average. Nearly 80 percent of the North Dakota dry beans are setting pods, well ahead of 59 percent for last year and the long-term average. Ninety-one percent of the dry beans in Minnesota are blooming, ahead of 93 percent last year and the average. Seventy-six percent of the beans are setting pods, up from 68 percent last year and 67 percent for the average. In Minnesota, 79 percent of the crop is rated good-to-excellent.
